Rani Kamalapati

 

  • Recently, Habibganj railway station of Bhopal has been renamed as ‘Rani Kamalapati’ station.
  • The station has been redeveloped with private participation at a cost of about Rs.100 crore. This is the first major work of its kind in the ‘station redevelopment’ sector in India, undertaken during the last few years under the ‘Public-Private Partnership’ model.

Rani Kamalapati:

  • ‘Rani Kamlapati’ was the widowed wife of ‘Nizam Shah’, the ruler of ‘Gond dynasty’ in the 18th century. They ruled over the then princely state of Ginnaurgarh, 55 km from Bhopal.
  • After the murder of her husband, ‘Rani Kamalapati’ is known to have bravely faced the attackers during her reign.
  • Kamalapati was the “last Hindu queen of Bhopal”. He did remarkable work in the field of water management during his reign and established many parks and temples.

  • Gonds are one of the largest tribal communities in
  • People of this tribal community are found in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar and Odisha.
