About Malcha Mahal :

  • It was built by the then Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 1325 AD and was used as a Hunting Lodge for a long time.
  • Later it became the residence of the descendants of the Nawab of Awadh.
  • It is believed that it came to be called ‘Vilayat Mahal’ after the Begum of Awadh, Vilayat Mahal, who claimed that she was a member of the royal family of Awadh. He was granted the ownership of the palace by the government in the year 1985.
  • After the Begum committed suicide in the year 1993, Malcha Mahal came into the ownership of her daughter Sakina Mahal and son Rajkumar Ali Raza (Cyrus). Rajkumar died in the year 2017 and his sister had passed away a few years before his death.

Firoz Shah Tughlaq : Today Current Affairs

  • It was born in 1309 AD and sat on the throne of Delhi after the death of his cousin Muhammad-bin-Tughlaq.
  • It was the third ruler of Tughlaq dynasty who ruled Delhi from 1320 AD to 1412 AD. Muhammad-bin-Tughlaq remained in power from 1351 AD to 1388 AD.

  • ‘Jizya’ or ‘Jizya’ means per capita annual taxation in the form of financial charges on permanent non-Muslim subjects of the State governed by Islamic law to provide funds for the public expenditure of the State.
  • It introduced the principle of succession in the armed forces where officers were allowed to send their children to the army after retirement. However, they were paid in the form of land rather than real money.
  • He was addressed by the British as the ‘Father of Irrigation Department’ as he had constructed many gardens and canals.

  • The Tughlaq dynasty belonged to a Muslim family of Turkic origin. The dynasty reached its climax “Between 1330-1335 AD” as a result of the military campaign led by Muhammad-bin-Tughlaq.

  • There were three important rulers in the Tughlaq dynasty – Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq (1320–1325 AD), Muhammad-bin-Tughlaq (1325–1351 AD) and Firoz Shah Tughlaq (1351 to 1388 AD).
  • Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq was the founder of this dynasty.
