Alongside her academic achievements, she showcased her talent as a skilled footballer, having participated in national-level competitions like the Subroto Cup in 2012.

In 2019, Ishita made the pivotal decision to quit her job as a Risk Analyst and commence her preparation for the UPSC exam. Despite facing challenges, she persevered and ultimately succeeded on her third attempt, cracking the UPSC CSE exam.

Ishita Kishore’s Family Background

Ishita Kishore hails from a family with a diverse professional background. Her father served as a former Air Force officer, her mother worked as a teacher in a private school, and her older brother is a lawyer practicing in the Supreme Court.

In an interview she acknowledged her mother’s unconditional support and said,” For all the emotional needs I went to my mother. She gave me moral support when I could not clear my prelims twice.”

UPSC CSE 2022 topper Ishita Kishore was always a very bright student. She completed her schooling in Delhi from Air Force Bal Bharti School from where she passed her higher school with an impressive 97.25%. She did her bachelor’s too from Delhi. From Shri Ram College of commerce she got her economics degree. 

She was also very active in sports. Ishita was a football enthusiast and was a national level football player. She played in the Subroto Cup Football Tournament in 2012.

The 26 year old Ishita Kishore’s UPSC journey was not easy. It was her third attempt in UPSC CSE exam when she cracked it. For the first two attempts, she was unable to even clear the prelims. But the secret to the UPSC exam is not just studying but being persistent and sincere to your preparation. In an interview, Kishore said, “Keep working hard for your goal. UPSC Civil Services exam requires a lot of consistency and discipline. Put in the right amount of hours that is needed according to you. Don’t compare with others . And consistently reevaluate your strategy.”

Ishita Kishore’s Strategy Towards UPSC Success

Ishita Kishore gave 40 to 45 hours for her preparation. Some days when she would feel like cutting short on her studies she did but also made sure she made for it in the coming day. Apart from this she read the fundamental UPSC books, NCERTs and read newspapers daily to keep up with the news.
