The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority was established by the Government of India under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act, 1985.

APEDA has actively supported the government in increasing agricultural exports, due to which agricultural exports increased from $ 600 million in 1986 to $ 200 billion in the year 2020-21.

APEDA aims to export $23 billion 700 million in the current financial year, of which more than 70 percent of the target has been achieved by January 2022.
