  • Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on 25 December, his birthday is celebrated as Good Governance Day.
  • This day was first celebrated in 2014. He is considered one of the most influential leaders of Indian politics.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee: The Hindu Analysis

  • Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
  • He did his graduation from Victoria College (now Laxmi Bai College) in Gwalior. After this he did M.A in Political Science from DAV College Kanpur.
  • Initially Atal Bihari Bajpayee was associated with Arya Samaj, then in 1939 he joined Rashtriya Swayam sevak Sangh and became a Pracharak.
  • Atal Bihari Vajpayee started participating in the freedom movement at a young age, in the Quit India movement, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his elder brother Prem were imprisoned for 23 days.
  • After the victory of the Janata Party in the 1977 general elections, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was given the post of foreign minister in Morarji Desai’s cabinet.
  • As Foreign Minister, he gave a speech in Hindi in the United Nations General Assembly, he was the first person to deliver a speech in Hindi in the United Nations General Assembly.
