Why in the news?

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, is gearing up to commemorate World Environment Day 2023 with a special focus on the transformative initiative known as Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). 

These campaigns are designed to raise awareness, educate citizens, and foster a sense of responsibility toward adopting environmentally friendly lifestyles.

What is Mission LiFE?

This visionary concept was introduced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister during the World Leaders’ Summit held at the 2021 UNFCCC COP26 in Glasgow. The Prime Minister passionately called for a collective global effort to embrace sustainable lifestyles and practices, highlighting the importance of individual actions in safeguarding our environment.

Mission LiFE revolves around the idea that our individual choices and behaviors can have a profound impact on the environment. By consciously making sustainable choices in our everyday lives, such as conserving resources, reducing waste, adopting eco-friendly practices, and promoting renewable energy, we can collectively contribute to the preservation of our planet’s natural resources.

What is the significance of Mission LiFE ?

Mission LiFE (Leveraging Innovation for Empowerment) is an ambitious initiative aimed at promoting sustainable development, empowerment, and innovation in various domains. The acronym “LiFE” represents the core values and objectives of the mission:
