Wang yapping

 

  • Wang Yaping has become the first Chinese female astronaut to walk into space, as she walked off the under-construction space station and participated in extracurricular activities with her male colleague ZhaiZhigang for more than six hours.
  • China’s Manned Space Agency said that, this is the first spacewalk by a female astronaut in Chinese space history.

Wang Yaping:

  • She is a native of Shandong Province, joined the People’s Liberation Army Air Force in August 1997 and served as deputy squadron commander before joining the second group of astronauts in the PLA Astronaut Division in May 2010 was.
  • She was part of the backup crew for the ninth manned Shenzhou mission series in March 2012 and participated in the 10th Shenzhou series lasting approximately 15 days in June 2013, becoming the second Chinese woman to fly in space.
  • During the 10th flight to Shenzhou, Ms. Wang delivered China’s first space-based lecture from inside the Tiangong I Experimental Module to more than 60 million Chinese students in nearly 80,000 schools across the country.
  • He was selected in December, 2019 for the current manned space mission.
  • While Ms. Wang and Mr. Zhai conducted Extra Vehicle Activities (EVAs), which included the spacewalk on Monday, Ye Guangfu, the third crew member, performed her role as an assistant from within the module.

China’s space station:

  • This is the second manned mission to China’s space station, which is currently under construction.
  • China will be the only country to have its own space station while the International Space Station (ISS) is a collaborative project of several countries.

The ISS is divided into two sections –

  • The first is the Russian Orbital Segment (ROS), which is operated by Russia and the second is the United States Orbital Segment (USOS), which is operated by the US as well as several other countries including Japan and Canada.
  • Tianhe was launched on April 29, 2021, China is building its space station by sending a series of space missions including cargo craft.
